Hospital Emergency Incident Command System (HEICS) Workshop

This four hour workshop has been created for hospitals, medical clinics and public health personnel.

HEICS uses basic management principals by developing a set of response procedures that fit within the hospitals emergency preparedness plan. Implementation of HEICS can unify the hospital or clinics with other emergency response agencies by developing a comprehensive approach to incident management.

HEICS will improve the effectiveness of emergency response!

In this workshop participants will learn the flexibility of HEICS, responsibilities based on the chain of command, commonality of the mission and language, standardize job descriptions and comprehensive documentation with "all hazard" applicability.

Workshop objectives:

  • Understanding the background of the Incident Command System (ICS)

  • Having an understanding of why the ICS is used

  • Understanding the concepts and principles of the ICS

  • Having the knowledge to define the HEICS

  • Understand the implementation of the HEICS
